We at the San Diego Japan Karate-Do Center recognize the many issues unique to the different age groups and each individual. We provide specific programs that focus on particular needs to help foster physical and character development.

What KARATE-DO offers per age groups

Age 6 and Under:

We offer a class that is highly physical and energetic. Our purpose for these young children is to have them grasp the basic techniques of Karate-Do such as blocking, kicking and punching thru repetitive physical training. They are conditioned through repetitive routines and exercises to build their own individual confidence, coordination, and discipline. Children of all physical sizes and capabilities can experience and develop a foundation of physical fitness that can last a lifetime.

Age 7 to 12 years old

This is an ideal age for kids to get involved in martial arts. We find that when kids join our program at this age, there is nothing they can't accomplish in the long run if they stick with our program. Our mission for these kids is to get the maximum benefit from our program and ALL it has to offer, most importantly, self-confidence, discipline, perseverance, responsibility, awareness, and practicality. The principles in Karate-Do help them to reach their full potential in life. The development of a strong character is an essential base of an individual who will be a productive and contributing member of society. Courtesy, Respect, and Personal Responsibility are values that we emphasis in Traditional Karate-Do training in order to forge a more productive individual.

Ages 13 to 17

For young adults, life is sometimes confusing, being in-between the child/adult worlds can be difficult at times. We give young adults a positive place to focus their energy, and a place of belonging with peers that are focused on education, ethics, and staying out of trouble. We partner with parents and teachers to give them guidance throughout their teen years and help them cope with issues such as peer pressure. We provide a structured program that challenges them to be better and help them to make wise decisions and choices prior to their adult life.

Adults

(currently we are not offering Adult classes but hope to start soon!) For adults, our program provides stress relief and mental clarity in an ever changing and stressful world. The physical activities of our program provides an outlet after a hectic day at work. The traditional training that Karate-Do provides strengthens the body's immune system and facilitates an increase in physical and mental endurance. .
